Kepler's Geometrical Model

Kepler's Geometrical Model for the Distances of the Outer Planets

In Kepler's model, a planet moved within a spherical shell with inner and outer radii defined by the limiting spheres of the regular polyhedra. For the outer solar system, the orbits of Saturn, Jupiter and Mars were thought to move on spheres separated by a cube, a tetrahedron and a dodecahedron.
